What is Google Flow?
Google Flow (labs.google/flow) is Google's AI filmmaking tool, introduced at Google I/O in May 2025. Instead of a single prompt box it gives you a shot-based workspace: build a scene, extend a clip onward from its last frame, jump to a new shot, and steer camera moves — while "ingredients", reference images of a character, prop or location, hold the same subject steady across shots.
Underneath it are Google's own models rather than a third-party stack. Flow currently lists Veo 3.1 for video with native audio, Nano Banana for image generation and editing, and a Gemini video model for reference-driven creation and edits — so the output quality is genuinely frontier-tier, and the workflow around it is the actual product.
Access runs on Google AI plan credits: a free tier with a daily allowance, then AI Plus, AI Pro and AI Ultra for larger monthly pools. That ceiling is what most people hit.
