Audio and video in one pass
Seedance 2.0 generates sound with the picture rather than after it — ambience, effects, music and dialogue land on the frame they belong to. You can also turn audio off and take the silent clip.
Multi-shot without stitching
One prompt can contain cuts. The subject, wardrobe, lighting and location hold across shot transitions, so a three-beat sequence comes out of a single generation instead of three renders you have to match by hand.

Write the shot, not the vibe
Seedance rewards specificity. Name the subject, the motion, the camera move and the sound: "handheld push-in on a chef plating dessert, warm kitchen light, clatter and low jazz" beats "nice food video". If you want cuts, write them as separate beats in one prompt. Prompts work in English, 中文, Bahasa Indonesia, Português and most major languages.
Pick format and length
9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts; 16:9 for YouTube and web; 1:1 for feed posts. Start at 5 seconds while you are iterating on the prompt and go to 10 once the shot is right — it costs less to find your mistakes short.

What is Seedance?
Seedance is ByteDance's family of AI video generation models, published by its Seed research lab. Given a text prompt, a still image, or a set of reference materials, Seedance produces short video clips — and its stated design goal has always been narrative video rather than single pretty shots: motion that obeys physics, camera language a director would recognise, and consistency that survives a cut.
First, the name. SeedDance — this website — is not Seedance the model, and we are not ByteDance. This is an independent platform that gives you hosted access to video generation in a browser. ByteDance neither operates nor endorses this site, and the resemblance between the two names is not a claim of ownership, partnership or authority. If you are looking for ByteDance's own material on the model, it lives at seed.bytedance.com. We say this up front because the whole page is about a model we did not build.
Seedance 1.0 arrived in June 2025 and set the family's reputation: native multi-shot storytelling from both text and image, 1080p output, and prompt adherence strong enough that the model would follow a shot list rather than reinterpret it. Its distinguishing trick was keeping the main subject, the visual style and the atmosphere stable across shot transitions — the thing most video models break on.
Seedance 2.0 followed in February 2026 and widened the model in two directions. It generates audio and video jointly in one pass, so dialogue, sound effects, ambience and music are produced with the picture instead of being dubbed onto it afterwards. And it takes multimodal conditioning: public API hosts expose up to nine reference images, three video clips and three audio files in a single generation, which is what makes it usable for keeping a character, a product or a location consistent across a batch of shots.
ByteDance ships Seedance through its own products and through a cloud API; there is no standalone consumer website under the Seedance name, which is why searches for it turn up a crowd of third-party generators. SeedDance is one of them, and we would rather be honest about the arrangement than pretend otherwise: generation on this page is served through PonPon's hosted API, which runs Seedance 2.0 among other frontier engines. You get a browser front end, your first generations free with no card, and clean MP4 downloads with no watermark.
